The planes were new and comfortable. I need wheelchair assistance and they were very pleasant and helpful. The only complaint I have is that the female steward would nor let me use any restroom because I use a cane. I got up to go and she screamed down the aisle for me to sit down.

I had such excellent service on my round trip flight to Aruba this month. I was dismayed at first as the rules for carry on and seat choice have changed.

I then used my United premier membership and wala I was good to carry on and pick my seats. Flights were on time both directions and the staff was very pleasant. I sat next to 2 unaccompanied minors on the way home the staff kept a real good eye on them. My problem was that we fly nonstop from Newark to Honolulu and you had to BUY food if you wanted something to eat. I'm sorry, but on a flight that long, some food should be provided without cost!

  5. After 2 hours on the phone with United they offered to fly us 3 days later. Unfortunately United is the only airline that flys to Chicago from Springfield. Our other airline American flys to DFW. Amtrak not that much better. Using our mileage points, United booked us from Dublin to Munich on Air Lingus with only 45 minutes turn around to catch our flight from Munich to Chicago on United! This is an impossible connection since you must change terminals. The United flight had left when we got to the gate and we were told we'd have to go back to Air Lingus to get it resolved.

    Finally, an agent from Lufthansa, who is responsible for United in Munich, felt sorry for us and got us on a Lufthansa flight to Chicago but had to change our Chicago to Peoria flight from United to American.

    Finally, we got to Chicago but could not find our luggage since it had been tagged through to Peoria by Air Lingus. After 30 minutes United found our luggage so we could go through customs. Now we only have an hour to get to our flight, in another terminal, on American. We were not able to use the "drop-off luggage" but had to have it tagged now by American.

    We got to the American terminal and they would not accept the printed sheet we had from Lufthansa for our ticket or luggage. Again, finally, someone felt sorry for us and got involved.

    They printed out our boarding passes and accepted our luggage. Now we only have a few minutes to get to the gate. Fortunately, the flight was delayed and at that, we got to the gate just 7 minutes before boarding. All this because United gave us an impossible connection in Munich!
